The God Who Sees
On a hill near Bethlehem, David was watching his family’s sheep. It was a lonely life, but he was never alone. Someone was always with him, watching, protecting, training, and loving him. God was building this young man into the king he would one day become.
His family saw a kid, the youngest of eight sons, a shepherd boy. But God saw a king, a mighty warrior, and a passionate worshiper. As a voice rose on that hill, piercing the solitude, David was called home. The prophet Samuel had requested an impromptu feast with Jesse and his sons…even David…especially David.
As David left his station, ran home, washed his face and changed out of his smelly shepherd garb, what must have been going through his mind? It must have all seemed like a dream to David; running in from the fields, coming into the crowded room, all eyes upon him, seeing Samuel standing, waiting for his arrival. As David knelt before Samuel strange words proceeded from the prophet’s mouth as he felt oil pouring over his head, running down his face, covering his clothes. The beautiful scent of the sacred anointing oil filled the room, as pride filled the heart of David’s father and jealousy the hearts of his brothers. But what did all this mean?
All those days on the hill out of sight from the rest of the world, God saw David. God was training him, calling his heart to worship, preparing him for the days ahead when he would lead God’s people. All the difficulties he had experienced had a purpose. The lion was a lesson in courage. The bear attack was to teach him how to defend God’s sheep. The hours of solitude helped him learn to hear the voice of the Lord. The songs of praise that rose from his heart on cold nights were meant for more than just his ears. Suddenly, it was all worth it. All the difficult times had purpose and meaning. They were part of a master plan. He was not forgotten or rejected, just hidden until the plan of God was revealed for his life.

He is not disappointed in you or ashamed of you. He loves you and He is excited about the wonderful plans He has for your future.
Perhaps you have felt invisible, lonely, forgotten, or unimportant to the important people. Know today that the most important Person sees you. Your faithfulness to love and serve where He has placed you, where no one else sees your sacrifices but Heaven, that is your love song to Him. It blesses His heart. He is teaching you to hear His voice. He is teaching you how to protect your precious ones from those who would do them harm and how to fight with the Lord’s strength, not your own. He is building your spiritual muscles and courage with each difficult situation. He is building your character so His character will be passed along to your children. His is giving you His confidence. Store up the wisdom He is teaching you. You will need it for your next assignment.
He has anointed your head with oil. He has set you aside for a special purpose. As you pray for those little ones in your care, He is doing a work in your own heart as well. He is building your faith. He has put His own Spirit within you to encourage you and show you the way.
Precious One, you have the mama anointing, and it’s powerful.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I know that You see me. I pray today that You would help me see my current position through Your eyes. Help me see that You are training me as I train my children. Remind me, Lord, on the hardest days that there is a purpose behind every difficulty and challenge I face. Help me to learn these lessons well and hide Your wisdom in my heart. I pray You will use these situations to build my spiritual muscles and grow my faith. I submit my work to You. May it be a blessing to my family and pleasing in Your sight. Thank You for anointing me to be a mama for Your Kingdom.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
