I love devotionals. A good devotional can help jump-start your quiet time with the Lord. Recently I shared a blog post and podcast titled “5 Tips for Having Meaningful Quiet Times with Jesus.” I promised to share a list of my favorite devotionals. So here goes…

Sally Clarkson is one of my favorite authors. I was so excited when I heard she had released a daily devotional. Mom Heart Moments didn’t disappoint. This year long devotional is so encouraging. It speaks right to the heart of mothers and is full of godly wisdom. I keep coming back to this devotional again and again.
We love The Chosen in our home. So when I saw The Chosen:40 Days with Jesus devotional I jumped right on it. I like the way it encourages readers to look at the life of Jesus through the eyes of His disciples. I think we sometimes forget how human they really were. This devotional was so good I ended up purchasing Volume 2.
A friend gave me Jesus Calling as a gift. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Some days it seemed to speak to the very topic I was dealing with. (I love how the Lord does that.) I like that the devotions are short and to the point. I found it very encouraging.
The Spirit-Filled Believer’s Daily Devotional was the first devotional I ever purchased almost 30 years ago! It holds a special place in my heart. My original copy sits on my nightstand now. It is full of wisdom and helped me so much as a young Christian.
One of the things I love about Daily Light is that it’s all scripture, no commentary. Each day has two readings, one for morning and one for evening. It is a wonderful way to renew your mind as you start and end your day. Highly recommended.
Streams in the Desert is a classic first published in 1925. It’s written in an older style but it’s rich with wisdom. I could tell the author of this devotional knew and loved Jesus deeply. Reading it makes me want to know Him more also.
Reaching Toward the Heights is one of my favorites. I come back to it time and again. Richard Wurmbrand was a Romanian pastor who spend 14 years in a communist prison for his faith. It’s so good!
I hope you find something in this list that appeals to you. This is my short list. I have more. But these are my favorite. I’ll share a longer list soon.
God Bless!
